Section
–B
Note : Attempt any three questions.
2.
a.
For an I section with flanges =60 x 10 mm and
web = 20 x 200mm determine 1xx, 1yy
b.
A beam ABC = 10 m , is hinged at A and supported
at B at a distance of 8m from A and supports 4KN at C and u.d.i. of 0.5 KN/m from A to B. draw B.N.D and S.F.D
and locate point of centraflecuse if any.
c. A cast iron water main 1.0 m long of 550 mm
outer dia and 25 mm wall thickness runs full water and is supported at its
ends. Calculate the max. stress in metal if density of cast iron is 70.6 KMm3
and that of water is 9.81 KN/m3
d.
A beam 4 m long is simple supported at its ends
and carries point loads of 10 KN each at both the quarter points calculate the
maximum slope and deflection of the beam. Take EL= 4 x 1012 N –mm2
use moment area methods.
