Paper: From the Earliest Times to Pre-Mauryan Period

(For B.A.only)

Time Allowed: Three Hours [Maximum Marks: 45 

Note:- (1) Attempt five questions in all.

(2) Question No. I is compulsory. 

(3) Attempt one question from each Unit. 

(4) For private candidates who have not been assessed earlier for internal assessment, the marks secured by them in theory paper will proportionately be increased to maximum marks of the paper in lieu of internal assessment.

(ii) Give two effects of physical features of Punjab on the course of its political history. 

(iii) Write names of two archaeologists connected with the discovery of the Harappan culture. 

(iv) Name two places in Punjab where the remains of the Harappan culture have been discovered. 

(v) Name the four Vedas of the Aryans. Which one of them is the oldest?

(vi) Write the names of four women scholars of the Rig Vedic Age. 

(vii) Mention four causes that led to the growth of caste system. 

(viii)Name the two great Epics of India and also write the name of their authors.

 

(ix) Name the two rivers which formed the boundary of the Kingdom of Porus. 

(x) Give two political effects of Alexander's invasion of India.

VII. Give an account of the political condition of North India on the eve of Alexander's Invasion.

UNIT-IV
