Note: Attempt five questions in all by selecting one question from each Unit. Section A is compulsory. All questions carry equal marks except Question No.1. 



1. Compulsory Question


(a) What are reporter genes? 


(b) What are opines? 


(c) What are virulence genes? 


(d) What is Golden rice? 


(e) What is T-DNA? 


(f) Glyphosate resistant plants. 


(g) Differentiate between stable and transient expression.




UNIT-I 


2. (a) Give the differences between chloroplast and mitochondrial DNA.

(b) Describe in detail the various types of promoters used in plant gene expression for both dicots and monocots.



3. (a) Differentiate between :

(i) Selectable and Scorable marker

(ii) Binary and cointegrate vectors. 


(b) What are repetitive sequences, exons, introns, and promoters?

4. (a) Give the advantages and disadvantages of particle bombardment gene delivery method in plants. 

(b) How are transgenic plants generated and maintained?
