ES-341 : TEACHING OF SCIENCE

Time : 3 hours                                                                       Maximum Weightage : 70%

Note : (i) All the four questions are compulsory.

(ii) All the questions carry equal weightage.

1. Answer the following question in about 600 words :

Explain the nature of science as a process as well as a product, with suitable example.

OR

What is Scientific Attitude ? What behavior will be demonstrated by a pupil who has acquired scientific Attitude ? Explain the importance of developing scientific attitude in school children.

2. Answer the following question in about 600 words :

Identify the main teaching points, formulate the corresponding objectives and explain the teaching - learning process that you will follow while teaching any one of the following topics at

secondary level :

(a) Mole Concept, OR (b) Friction

3. Write brief notes on any five of the following in about 120 words each :

(a) Child-centered approaches of teaching science.

(b) Characteristics of a good lesson plan.

(c) Safety precautions in science laboratory

(d) Identification and facilitation of slow learners in science.

(e) Salient features of a good question-paper.

(f) Teaching of 'Dynamo'.

(g) Teaching of 'Hard and Soft water'.

(h) Teaching of 'Balanced Diet'.

4. Answer the following question in about 600 words :

Give your critical comments on the state of teaching science in secondary schools in our country. What are your suggestions for improving the situation ? Give concrete examples in support of your answer.
