INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES :
1) Section-A consists of ten compulsory questions carrying two marks each.
2) Section- B consists of Four subsections : Units-I, II, III and IV
There are two questions in each subsection carrying ten marks each and a student has to attempt one question from each subsection.
Q.1. Write brief answers to the following questions:
(a) What is an adverb? Write a sentence using an adverb.
(b) Use the following idioms in sentences:
(i) an apple of one’s eye
(ii) a bed of roses
(c) Give antonyms of: abundance, promotion
(d) Transform the following sentences:
(i) You should accept his proposal [change into negative]
(ii) He is too late to be considered for admission [Rewrite removing too]
(e) Correct the following sentences:
(i) He violated against the rules.
(ii) The climate of Shimla is better than Chandigarh.
(f) Give one word substitute for each of the following:
(i) A person who eats too much
(ii) A cure for all diseases
(g) Explain encoding and decoding.
(h) What do you mean by departmental communication?
(i) What do you mean by agenda?

Q.2 (a) What is the meaning of the word Preposition? Explain the kinds of Prepositions.

Q.9. Write a letter to a firm expressing your inability to supply the goods by a stipulated date.
